The Chicago Cubs were looking for a new PA announcer for their home games at historic Wrigley Field. They accepted applications from pretty much anybody by posting the job on CareerBuilder.com. Part of the application process was to produce an audition video, using a script provided by the Cubs, and post the video on YouTube. I estimated that there were at least 500 of these videos posted on YouTube. I knew it was a long shot, but, as they say, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. And hey, the Cubs had to hire somebody. Why couldn’t it be me?

Continue Reading →My first movie opens today. The film is a romantic comedy called How Do You Know. It stars Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson and Jack Nicholson, and it’s finally arriving in theaters today. I don’t have a big part. In fact, I barely have a part at all. I was a background actor in the film in June of 2009 when they were shooting in Washington, DC.
If my “big scenes” didn’t end up on the cutting room floor, you may see a crappy red 1995 Saturn pull up to a stoplight behind Paul Rudd as he’s about to load Reese Witherspoon into a cab outside of a Starbucks in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of DC. That’s my crappy, 16-year old red Saturn and I’m behind the wheel!
Continue Reading →I don’t consider myself a beginner in voice-over. Like many voice actors, I started in broadcasting. I worked in radio for about a decade and in that time I voiced probably well over a thousand commercials, promos, comedy bits, news stories and other broadcast elements. I was frequently requested by advertisers because of the quality of my voice, my ability to deliver a good read, my skill and creativity at writing commercials and because I was capable of speaking in a wide range of character voices and accents.
